As we trek on our Bee Keeping Adventures…

The Viking In My Life Working The Hives @ Lil' Suburban Homestead

Beekeeping is becoming a new hobby on suburban homesteads all over the country.  The economy may have impacted the volume of people now keeping bees that being said I have truly enjoyed our Bee Keeping Classes our Bee Keeping Club and I love to video tape my husband who is the one that works with the bees although I promise I will be out their hands on with them soon!   Click the video below to watch my husband inspecting our hives on our Lil’ Suburban Homestead……and I am chatting away and I am using a new video camera I got for my birthday so I love playing with it right now.  As much as I focus on frugality I love technology items!

We are new to this so I can’t say we don’t make mistakes but we sure are extremely interested in keeping Bees my husband’s library is growing on Bee Keeping and we keep learning more and more from our Bee Keeping Friends like Tom and Nikki and Chris and Katherine.  My friend Katherine loaned me her movie to watch “The Vanishing of The Bees” and after watching it I am so glad that we have decided to keep bees.  The fate of the bee and really the fate of our planet is in all of our hands.   Watch the trailer from the Vanishing of The Bees below:

Bee Keeping can truly be for just about everyone actually the one thing that fascinated me when we first got them is that they didn’t mess with me or other people. I will be out in the garden and they will come just an inch from me and go around me I realized they don’t want to mess with me they want to be about their work which is collecting pollen and nectar to feed the colony. We both took a bee keeping class and became Certified Bee Keepers I do recommend before you start keeping bees that you do take a class. There is so much to learn about bee keeping and to think we are just at the beginning of this journey….
