Our Story Was Featured at Old World Garden Farms & Spruce Up For Greenhouse Tour

We were featured at Old World Garden Farms Blog and some photos of our recent plant adventures!
Plants on our recent gardening adventures!

We were featured!  Jim & Mary at Old World Garden Farms contacted me about showcasing our story…We were flattered and happy to share our story as we hope to inspire others to know that they can grow a lot of their own food and live a more sustainable life even in suburbia .  That being said they did a wonderful job editing our story as I am not a professional editor I just write my thoughts down and you hear them just like I am thinking.  I love the fact that Jim and Mary are dedicated to telling the stories of farmers and homesteaders like me some of the story’s they have featured have been about folks with huge spreads and yet they chose us with our tiny 1/3 of an acre.  If you want to see what they are up to at their farm and read some of the other stories go check out the story they showcased on our “Lil’ Suburban Homestead” here at Old World Garden Farms.

Our two blogs are like-minded in that we are both passionate about connecting others who are pursuing a more sustainable way of life.  I hope you enjoy stopping by their blog as much as I did….I loved reading about the other farms they had featured so far!

I wasn’t able to write all day because first I like to spend my Sunday morning’s sipping on coffee and reading other people’s blogs it is quite enjoyable and one of the blogs I follow is one written by Old Jules called So Far From Heaven and he introduced me to a song I had never heard before by Kris Kristoferson who I love called “Sunday Morning Coming Down” which I shared on Facebook already today.

We are also getting ready to be on our local greenhouse tour as well and a couple of weeks ago I won a raffle and it was a gift certificate to a local nursery and I went there today and got another peach tree which I had been waiting on for quite a while.   I am including some pictures of our field trip too.

Lastly I ended my day by picking up pine cones for an hour in my yard and making Mom Photographer’s Cheesecake cookies which by the way are amazing and well I can’t forget Sunday’s are also my “Wash Day” so they go by fast!

I wanted to share some pictures with all of you of us working to spruce up the yard for our greenhouse tour and also to show you all that with just a reasonable amount of money under $19.00 what we were able to accomplish.   We purchased some cool weather flowers including some pansy’s and violas to help spruce up our property that will be placed through out and my husband also surprised we with a beautiful Boston Fern he found on sale today for $2.99.

I am always amazed with some recycled planters, inexpensive plants, and some pinestraw, and of course good ole’ fashioned elbow grease how quickly the lil’ homestead spruces up for company.

Have a great week ahead everyone!

Fondly,

Photobucket

  1. The shot of color of a few well placed planters of flowers does great things for a place. I must wait a few weeks more before putting some flowers in the front containers but I look forward to the cheerful improvement it will make to the front entry.

Congratulations on being feathred on Old World Garden Farms.

I Love Hearing From All Of You! Thanks for sharing!
