Talk About Off Grid & The Ole Saturday Homesteading Trading Post Ed. No. 29

Hi I’m KarenLynn welcome to my lil’ blog Lil’ Suburban Homestead! I hope you soon realize how excited I am about connecting like-minded homesteaders together! Come on back soon!

Our Featured Blog This Week – Live, Ready, Now

Before I dive into my blog posting this week I have to share with all of you our blog that is being featured this week is my virtual friend Rose Petal’s site Live, Ready, Now.  Rose Petal and her family are living off grid and Rose Petal and her husband Silver Oak are documenting step by step what life is like for them it never fails to fascinate me.

The post that was randomly selected by my husband the Viking in my life and I am excited to share it because Rose Petal is sharing how they are preparing for a hurricane as Tropical Storm Debbie headed toward them.  This post got me thinking are my hurricane supplies what they should be?  I haven’t checked my supplies in a while……so this weekend a full inventory is in order since it is hurricane season right now.  She shares that they had to lower the roof at one end for preparation for water run off but I don’t want to spoil the whole article make sure you go and read it!  It’s great.

Here are some other blog posts you might enjoy that Rose Petal has shared about their Off Grid Lifestyle….

Cooking With A Windshield Shade

Water We Dug A Well

Laundry On The Off Grid Homestead

I hope you take the time to investigate this blog by Rose Petal and their Off Grid lifestyle I am sure you will enjoy their journey as much as I do!  Rose Petal’s blog really makes me take a look at my life style and how dependent I am on my Droid Razr and my wireless internet.  However I am always going to be a techie but that doesn’t mean I can’t always think of ways to do things better while being less dependent on the grid.

Now it’s time for the weekly Saturday blog hop “The Ole’ Saturday Homesteading Trading Post”.  I cannot wait to hear what you all are up too.  This weekend we are saying goodbye to family some of who have been with us for about 11 days and we say hello to a bushel and a half of tomatoes that we need to can.  How was your 4th of July?  We had a wonderful time with family this year…..while we don’t have a set tradition for the 4th it is always nice to spend time with family and friends!  How about you do you want to link-up this week and share what you did on the 4th.  I have a blog posting coming soon on what we did!  By the way everyone I met my first weight loss goal and I have lost 25 lbs. so celebrate with me!  My reward is feeling better, sleeping better, enjoying life to its fullest!  Today I went tubing with my older brother, his wife, my niece, my Mom, and my son and it all wouldn’t have happened but my Viking the love of my  life took the time to bring us all out on the boat even though he is working over time right now in the heat!  XOXOXO I just had to give him a shout out because I am so blessed to have him in my life!
