A Few of My Favorite Things

Campfires & Camping

I thought since it had been a while since I updated all of you about what’s been happening on our lil’ homestead. I thought by sharing a few of my favorite things would be the perfect way to accomplish this.

Camping in the state parks especially in the Carolinas, Georgia and Florida is amazing. There is nothing I quite like better than sitting around a campfire, under the stars with the Viking in my life and or good friends. Hanging out in nature, soaking it all up is one of my faves!

I love to go for a hike, my husband loves to fly fish, and we both love exploring as we meander through the state parks and campgrounds.

The Garden is My Haven

This year we planted a bunch of spinach and lettuces that we have been eating for just about three seasons a year on our homestead. We just placed our New Year’s seed order which included, spinach, lettuces, broccoli, bok choy, and other greens.

Soups, Soups, & More Soups

We love making soups and often make a fresh pot every week. Soup made with homemade goodies, and homemade broths is not only delicious, but very healthy and fortifying. We often go out into the garden and harvest what we need for each night’s dinner.

A new project up ahead in the garden at our lil’ homestead, where the Viking in my life is going to custom build cold frames, similar to the ones that they have in the gardens in Colonial Williamsburg.

1883

We started watching 1883 which is a historic, western on Paramount and it’s my new favorite show, I’m so addicted and look forward to each new episode. It’s about a family on a wagon train and the perils that they and their fellow travelers face. I had no idea, but apparently it’s the prequel to Yellowstone, which I had lost interest in, but may take a look at again in the future. The 1883 trailer is quite compelling, but if that’s not enough watch the first two episodes and you will be hooked.

I hope you are all having a wonderful January and that you enjoyed reading through a few of my favorite things. Until next time…

Fondly,
